Issued today in 1970

St Helena. Charles Dickens Death Centenary. Issued 9 June 1970. London supplies were printed on shiny unsurfaced paper with gum arabic while local supplies were on chalk-surfaced paper with PVA gum. The locally-issued 4d exists with yellow doubled (affecting Mr Pickwick’s background). Two panes of 30 stamps were reportedly affected, but the variety rarely appears on the market.
